  • Yes, osteopathy is generally safe when performed by a trained and qualified practitioner. OMPs are highly trained in understanding the body’s anatomy and how to treat it with care. However, as with any medical treatment, it’s important to discuss any pre-existing health conditions with your OMP before starting treatment.

  • We suggest that you wear something comfortable and stretchy. Athletic and leisure wear are ideal, while dress clothes, denim, and other materials that restrict movement are not.

  • Osteopathic treatments are generally very gentle and painless; however, there can be certain instances where discomfort arises due to the application of a specific technique. In addition, some individuals may experience soreness for 1-3 days after treatment.

  • Osteopathy is recommended for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. By treating the whole body, osteopathic treatment can benefit individuals with a variety of conditions.

  • Many health insurance plans cover osteopathic treatments, but coverage varies depending on your plan. It’s best to check with your insurance provider to confirm whether osteopathy is included and to what extent.

  • In most cases, a referral is not required to see an OMP; however, if you're seeing an OMP for a specific medical condition, it's always a good idea to consult with your doctor beforehand to ensure it’s the right treatment for you.

  • The number of osteopathy sessions you need depends on the nature of your condition and how your body responds to treatment. Some people experience improvement after one or two sessions, while others may require ongoing treatment for more complex issues. Your OMP will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

  • During your appointment, your practitioner will take a detailed medical history, assess your posture, movement, and overall physical condition. Depending on your needs, they will then apply various manual techniques to treat the affected areas. Most treatments are gentle, but some may involve deeper manipulation if necessary. It’s common for patients to feel immediate relief or improvement after treatment.

  • Appointment times usually last 30 minutes, unless it’s your first time visiting your OMP. Initial appointments can range anywhere up to 45 minutes in length. The actual duration of the treatment averages 20-25 minutes.

  • Payment occurs at the end of your treatment. Shortly thereafter, you will receive a receipt which you can submit to your insurance company to be reimbursed.
